TD RULES AND GUIDELINES
Congratulations on becoming a Tourney Director. The following are some basic rules and guidelines we will all follow to help ensure tournaments run smoothly. We value your input, so please let Administrator's of the league know, if you have ideas or comments about these guidelines. YOU are an integral part of the tourney administration process and we appreciate the time you devote to the league!

INTERLEAGUE GAMES : WHIZMAJIK, FRIZ, REFLECTIONS (MIRRORS), AND BOL - These all have Qualifier tourneys played in our lobby and will be on the specials calendar. The two top teams will represent our league in the Interleague. The interleague games will be played in the interleague's lobby. These league links may be found in the TD Center under the heading of Interleague Links. Interleague qualifiers and games are on the specials calendar. Remember that if members are playing in an Interleague game, they will not be available to play in your tourney. We will be adding more interleagues in the future.
TD RESPONSIBILITIES: You are responsible for creating your tourneys - avoiding calendar conflicts, running the tourneys you make, and spamming for the tourneys to let members know. All of these are covered in detail under the headings. However, the Case’s TD Training Manual is a valuable resource for all TD’s. Please take time to read and refer to this guide. CREATING YOUR TOURNEY: Tourneys should be scheduled on the calendar a minimum of 10 days out. This allows staff and members to see upcoming events. Schedule your tourney on a date and time convenient for you with regards to tourney times and bux. When making a tourney, you should make a 1 vs 1 and a 2 vs 2 tourney using same format in the event your 2 vs 2 does not make. All tourney pages must be customized. There are several links to free tourney pages on the link in the TD Center labeled “Free Tourney Page Sites”. Tourney pages are not to be deemed offensive! Post rules on the game rules page for the tourney. These are found on the games rules pages in the TD Center. USE ONLY THESE RULES. The rules in blue are for spammers, the rules in red are for the tourney page. Place them at the bottom of the tourney page in “CUSTOMIZE TOURNAMENT LAYOUT” . Game rules must appear on the ‘CUSTOMIZE TOURNAMENT RULES” along with the PRESET LEAGUE RULES. You will find all of these in the TD CENTER under labeled headings.
TD DONATIONS: Any TD may make a TD donation. Occasionally a member will make the donation for you. Please follow up with the member to ensure that the donation is allotted to the winners of the tourney.
SPAMMING YOUR TOURNEY: Now that your tourney is made, you will want members to join. You will need to spam prior to tourney time. If a member requests to be removed from spam, please do so immediately and advise other staff of the request!
RUNNING YOUR TOURNEY: YOU MUST BE READY TO RUN YOUR TOURNEY AT LEAST 45 MINUTES PRIOR TO TOURNEY TIME! SPAM tourney information and jump number and lobby we are playing in.
As members register for your tourney you will need to monitor teams and autos. Verify there are no same household members paired up! - or in sequence on auto. If you see them paired up together in a team or in sequence on auto, please ask one of them to jump off and make a team or wait until someone else gets in on auto. You can advertise in lobby if a member has a team but is in need of a partner. If no partner is found, they will need to join auto. If at closing time you are uneven, you may have to join the tourney to make it even, however never join unless you have to and never on a team. TD'S ARE TO NEVER JOIN A TOURNEY TO PLAY THAT HAS PRIVATE TABLE OR WHERE THE KIBITZ ARE TO BE LEFT ON!!
CLOSE THE TOURNEY!
Announce pairings and flip time for the tables in messenger.
Once a table is made and you are at the table, be sure to check that the table is made correctly (ie regular table for regular games, suicide table for suicide games, and that the table is protected, or private). Once you have verified the table, then run game rules. Kibitz on or off, and place table start time on the table. (TT: 35). This will keep games from running over in time.
Please remember members are distracted by excessive caps. If chatting with a member, use your i/m.
REPORTING AND CLOSING THE TOURNEY: You are responsible for reporting the correct winners and closing tourney. Should you make a mistake, contact an Admin for assistance. Remember all mistakes can be corrected!!! and we all make them, However, not reporting a mistake can lead to the loss of your TD/HTD status.
BEHAVIOR: Please remember you are a representative of XXXXXXXXXX and conduct yourself in a manner that is league appropriate. You are expected to follow the same rules as the members!
Again thank you! You are very appreciated for the time you devote to XXXXXXXXXX and remember we are here to have fun and play spades!
